ACA marketplace

Marketplace coverage, and every credit you qualify for.

The marketplace is where most individuals and families buy coverage, and where the most money gets left behind. Subsidies are easy to miss and the plan tiers are easy to misread. We handle both, at no cost to you.

  • We check every premium tax credit you qualify for
  • Plans compared across all carriers in your state
  • Enrollment handled start to finish

How subsidies actually work

Premium tax credits are based on your household size and expected annual income, measured against the federal poverty level. For 2026, the enhanced pandemic era subsidies have expired, which means the original rules are back: households between 100 and 400 percent of the federal poverty level can qualify, and above that line the credit disappears entirely.

  • That 400 percent line is a cliff, not a slope. A small income difference can change your cost significantly.
  • Estimating income carefully matters, especially if you are self employed or your income varies.
  • If you land above the cliff, private plans outside the marketplace are often cheaper. We quote both.

Metal tiers, and why silver is not what it looks like

Plans are grouped as bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The tier describes how you and the plan split costs, not the quality of care. Bronze has low premiums and high deductibles. Gold is the reverse. Silver sits between, but here is the part people miss: if your income is under 250 percent of the federal poverty level, silver plans unlock cost sharing reductions that quietly lower your deductible and copays. For many households, a silver plan ends up cheaper overall than bronze despite a higher premium.

Questions we hear a lot

Do I pay more using an advisor instead of enrolling myself?

No. Marketplace plans are priced identically whether you enroll on your own or with a licensed advisor. Using us costs nothing extra and means someone checks your subsidy math and your provider networks.

What if my income changes during the year?

Report it to the marketplace when it happens. Your credit is reconciled on your tax return, so a large unreported change can create a surprise bill or refund. We will walk you through how to update it.

Can I enroll outside of open enrollment?

Only with a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, marrying, or having a baby. These typically open a 60 day special enrollment window. Tell us what changed and we will confirm whether you qualify.

What if I earn too much for a subsidy?

You still have options. Above the subsidy cliff, private and off marketplace plans frequently beat unsubsidized marketplace pricing. Our advisors quote the whole market, so you see both sides before deciding.
